Living Room Renovation Upate

The living room renovation continues......the drapes and pictures are up.  Furniture is being recovered, the walls are now pale blue but I am in need of input.  I want to add a nice bar cart in either wood, gold, or bronze, two shelves, not too short or too long, somewhere in between. I have narrowed my search to these:

This one I adore but unless I can find it discounted, is way out of my price range:

This one is by Bungalow 5:

This is Society Social but it would be gold.  I love the bamboo but think it is too busy...

This one is from World's Away. I wish the shelves were glass and not mirrors...
I like the shape of this one but not sure about how good the quality is going to be...

Also struggling with lights.  My ceilings are 9 feet and the 24-25 inch fixtures seem too big to me, they come down too low in the room.  The light will be in the middle of the room, not over anything.

I like this one but think it is too big.

Here are some others I am liking:

This one is my favorite but way too expensive!

This is my drapery fabric, on dark wooden rods:

It's a Mod Fall

I am loving some of the new fall fashions coming out, clearly with a nod to the 1970's.  This top from Anthro is so much cuter in person. I fell in love with it and will wear it with black leggings.

Tory Burch finally came out with boots that fit those of us with thin legs and tiny ankles.  These will go well with the top above.

This necklace from Anthro adds a little to the tunic above.  See the necklace here.

Add this new bag from Tory Burch and you have a mod new outfit.

Blanton's Bourbon - Perfect for an Equestrian's Bar Cart

This Bourbon will look fabulous in the living room on the new bar cart once I pick one out.  Thank you Sherri for giving me the tip!  Now if I can find it....

American Pharoah Gallops for the Masses at Saratoga

What I wouldn't give to be in Saratoga tomorrow to watch the magnificent American Pharoah run yet another race for the history books.  For those lucky enough to be in New York, an estimated 15,000 watched him take his final gallop before the $1.6 million Travers Stakes runs tomorrow afternoon.  The New York Racing Association opened its gates free of charge so fans could watch this American legend train during a special session reserved for Travers entrants.

Tune your televisions to The Travers on Saturday. It's likely that he'll have only one more race, The Breeders' Cup before he is officially retired.  What an American treasure this horse has become.

Bar Cart Bonanza

I've been finishing up the living room renovation (will blog about it when it's all done) but have decided that I need a bar cart and have the perfect spot for one.  There are so many to choose from but here are some that I like the most.....Society Social has the best selection by the way.

Loving this one from Serena and Lilly but I think it's too informal for my room. Screams ocean to me. Great size and price too.

This is one of my favorites from Barclay Butera but it only comes in black so it won't work in my room. Looks like something Ralph would create don't you think?

These are from Society Social and many are out of stock but they are great looking!

I also like these from Worlds Away...

Equi In Style Heated Shirts

I realize it's not winter, yet but if the predictions are correct, we're in for a cold one, again.  A new product out there from EIS, heated shirts, supposedly make you feel 5 degrees warmer on those bitter cold days.  They will be the rage this winter for sure and others also make shirts that make this claim.

Here's what they say about the technology behind these shirts:

Mega Heat Technology
This self-heating technology (no mesh design) is embedded in the fabric and heats your body temperature by 5 degrees. Your movement generates the heating effect and will keep you warm. Also has UPF 50+

Nanoplex
Microscopic nano particle attached to fabric fibers make these performance features long lasting. Not a fabric finish.

Easy Care
Normal wash, quick drying, and no shrinkage.

Odor Control
Our special wicking fabric helps control body odor.

I haven't tried one of these yet but I like the cool shirts and ride in the all summer long.

Favorite Fall Fashions, I

Fall fashions are not my favorites but I have my eye on few things this season so far.  A trip to New York in the coming weeks will allow me to shop a bit.  So far here are a few things I am loving.  This dress from Tory Burch would be great with tights, wedges and boots when it gets cooler. Loving navy right now too.
Also love this bag from Tory Burch in either this blue or a deep green.
This vest is very cute. See it here.

The coat fetish continues. This cape is from J Crew and also comes in black.  I think I prefer black.

This green wool dress also from J Crew looks much better up close. It is already selling out.  It also comes in pink.  This would be such a versatile piece for work, weddings, funerals, cocktails or whatever.
Happy Thursday!

Ten Classic Flats Everyone Woman Should Own

I love a great pair of heels but my feet can't tolerate them anymore.  So I love a classic pair of flats and these will never go out of style so it's worth the investment when you consider how long they last. So I decided to round up 10 styles that will never go out of style; in fact, you’ve probably seen at least a few of them in your mother or grandmother’s closet. Here’s my list of 10 classic flats every woman should own.

1) Ferragamo Varina Flats
We wore these when I was in college, so am I aging myself? They've come back or maybe they never left.
2) Belgian Loafers
My all time favorites.  These are like wearing slippers all day.  Worth a trip to New York to pick up a few pairs of these.

3) Tory Burch Reva Flats

4) Driving Mocs
Tod's, Manalo Blahnick, Gucci  or even Prada.  They all work!

5) Jack Rogers Sandals

6) Gucci Loafers

9) Roger Vivier Flats

10) Leopard Flats
Mine are J Crew but you can pick these up most anywhere.

Kelly Girl

Loving the fresh kelly green that seems to be all the rage in decorating again.  Reminds me of the preppy days of my youth.  Bring it on!  This is Alison Pincus' home in San Francisco.  She's the co-founder of One King's Lane.  Love the lacquered walls.

Love the green tiles in this bathroom by Kelly Wearstler. I'd never tire of this.

While we're moving a bit towards lime and away from kelly, this to-die-for kitchen done by Miles Redd is simply divine.  It was featured in House Beautiful.
