About Me

I'm a country girl at heart, even though I've experienced city life and the business world working for some great companies along the way.  I'm now living on a 19th century farm, nestled between the Blue Ridge and the Allegheny Mountains in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. My "kids" are my three horses and my harem of cats (mostly strays who needed a home).  A "horse person" at heart, who would rather be on a horse than just about anywhere else, I also love good fashion, the Wall Street Journal, antique furniture, fine art, crystal and china, a great dinner party, most sports and being outdoors.  Growing up in North Carolina gave me my "Southern roots" from which I continually draw.  Some things never go out of style - an old house, monograms, classic clothes, a great book, an Hermes scarf, good leather, and of course, family and close friends.

This blog is about celebrating the chic side of country life, for those who love it and everything that goes with it: horses, hounds, cooking a great meal, entertaining, decorating, great friends and being outdoors. This isn't guns and gardens but a sophisticated approach to living, one that is timeless and traditional, one that will never go out of style.  Help me embrace it!
