One Last Look at Christmas

Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year and I always hate to kiss it good-by.  Here are a few photos I took just before the holiday.  Enjoy.  Au revoir!

  1. Oh, don't say goodbye to Christmas just yet, if you don't want to. Technically, Christmas extends until Epiphany, January 6. That's why the carol speaks of the twelve days of Christmas, and why Shakespeare wrote "Twelfth Night."

I too hate taking the decorations down. The house and yard look so stark without the fragrant greens, the fruit, ribbons, and bright berries. Our ancestors didn't keep their houses bare during the hard cold months of January, February, and March; they took out the explicitly holiday decorations but kept fresh evergreens in the house (no doubt replenished often).
