Bath County, Virginia is heaven on earth for those of us who would love to live without shopping malls and stoplights (there are neither in the entire county). It's quaint, bucolic, and home to the Homestead Resort so if you want sophistication in a country kind of way, it's there. Much of the county is deeded parkland so real estate is limited and there are some fantastic estates tucked away like Stepping Stones, which is for sale if you have a cool $3.2M and the money to keep up this incredible 150+ acre piece of heaven. You could almost walk to the Homestead and there's room for your horses too. The estate was built in the 1930's for the foxhunting wife of one of the founders of E.F. Hutton. Yes, they used to hunt here too. You can see the listing here.
