Books are not a routine topic here but I decided to give this one a go as I thought it might appeal to HCC readers. The book takes place in the eventing world and Hope garnered the assistance of well-known eventer, Gretchen Butts, who was my neighbor when I lived in Maryland. Small world isn't it? So the book will meet the technical requirements of a seasoned horse pro. You can find the book here.
The author is also a former rider (dressage) so she knows horses. Lee is a seasoned editor but this is her first novel and hopefully not her last. She used some real life events to add background to her story which I found fascinating, a real murder case. In real life the people in the case were musicians but she changed them to horse people for the book. There is a "class divide" also in the book (again from the murder case). She read the trial transcripts and even attended a civil suit after the verdict.
Hope has melded a perfect concoction in Horsefever - horses, a murder mystery, a little passion, some suspense, all wrapped around our four-legged friends. Add this one to your 2016 reading list.
An intriguing book! I took my time savoring the complicated relationships among the three key characters. Lee brings an intoxicating sensory-sensual connection to the essence of this sexy intrigue.
