Worst of McMansions - Virginia Style

We're going way off topic today.  The connection here is that this house is in Virginia, albeit Northern Virginia, which is more akin to Northern New Jersey than the Virginia Hunt Country, thank goodness.  If you live in the 'burbs around Washington, D.C., sorry for the slam.  This will give you a good chuckle today. But the place is full of houses like this with insane price tags, no land, and no taste at all whatsoever.  Enjoy!  Please start reading here. I haven't laughed this much all week!

  1. LMAO. I was asked to look at one of these (in McLean) a few months ago...that line "Pringles can of shame" fits that neighborhood perfectly!! This is what we've come to--$1.6M tear-downs.

  3. I remember when I lived in Vienna for a time , a housing development went in not far from us.. Homes were less than 10 ft apart...Huge homes, no land; back yard was about 10-15 ft: ridiculous.. You could probably hear your neighbor snore at night.. That McMansion you feature has to be one of the worst homes I have ever seen.. Unfortunately Northern Virginia went downhill very quickly: especially after Tysons Corner was developed

  4. This circulated through my architecture classmates and colleagues two days ago. So hilarious and painful all at the same time!

  7. I lived in Northern Virginia for 13 years - the only thing that saved me was the fact that I had a horse. It cost an arm and a leg to board her in Alexandria, but she kept me sane.
