The Belmont
The NYRA announced yesterday that the Belmont would be run on June 20th without spectators and at a lesser distance, a mile and an eighth. There's a lot of banter going on out there about how lessening the distance is terrible, ruins the race, it's not the Belmont, etc. But as a racing fan I am just glad it is happening given the situation in the US. We can all enjoy a day of racing on television when nothing else is going on. And it should be a great race - Tiz the Law, likely would have been a Derby favorite, is based there, has won a G1 race at Belmont and does not have to be shipped cross-country. Baffert is rumored to be sending unbeaten Nadal and Charlatan from the West Coast. Stay tuned.
There is Derby points race this weekend, a G3at Churchill Downs. So at least there is racing......
And lessening the distance is likely the right thing to do for the horses who are not in racing fit form like they would have been by now in a normal year. Sometimes less is more. I'll take it!
Wardrobe
Love this romantic Liberty blouse now greatly reduced from J Crew. I can't ever get too much Liberty. Now where to wear it? See it here.
I'm a sucker for Thomas Mason blouse. The quality cannot be beat and this stuff lasts forever.
This tunic is another wardrobe staple. See it here.
I need to find a bigger bag to hold my needlepoint stash. Loving this new line from Willa Heart at the Plum Stitchery (you can order from your favorite needlepoint store).
Willa Heart is quite talented and her wares extend beyond needlepoint. Love these pillows which would look great on that porch you're likely spending lots of time on these days. See them here.
And I love her note cards!
The Cutest Darn Rugs Ever
Are these not just divine from June St. George? You design your own. Enough said. Send Visa here.
Stay safe, sane and sound - not necessarily in that order!
