The Cleveland Grand Prix

There's a new book out that I want to read about Cleveland and horses.  Yes, you heard correctly, Cleveland.  The Chagrin Falls area of Cleveland is about as horsey as you can get in Ohio or the Midwest by that matter and Betty Weibel a long-time fixture in the Chagrin horsey set has thankfully taken it all down, the history of it all that is.  You order the book here.

We downplay Cleveland (which is a wonderful place when there's no snow) but did you know that Cleveland is home to the inventor of the first car, airplane and professional baseball team?  The Cleveland Grand Prix (horses not cars) was the first of its kind in the Western Hemisphere, started way back in 1965?  When you're stuck inside when the lake effect snow hits and keeps you there all winter you have lots of time to invent in Cleveland. The book also has a website, see it here. I can't wait to read this.  I spent a lot of time in Cleveland and loved to show at what used to be the Merrill-Lynch Hunter Jumper Classic.  In the winter there's an A rated hunter show many weekends (all indoors of course). It's a fun town for horses.  Enjoy!
