Pitino Strikes Gold Today

Okay, maybe Louisville was favored to win today over Wichita State but the odds were not in the coach's favor at Santa Anita.  Let's just say that the coach is likely having a glass of champagne right about now, celebrating his victory on both coasts.

Goldencents captured $750,000 Santa Anita Derby and handing trainer Doug O'Neill consecutive wins in the important West Coast test for 3-year-olds.

Goldencents, a son of Into Mischief is owned University of Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino's RAP Racing, W. C. Racing, and Dave Kenney. As Goldencents crossed the wire in front, Pitino's Cardinals were competing against Wichita State in the Final Four in Atlanta, Ga.  We are sure to see this lovely colt at the Derby next month.

Way to go Coach Patino. Not a bad day's work.
