Cubbing Chic

It's cubbing season here in Virginia - it begins around Labor Day in the fox hunting world.  Formal hunt season does not typically start until mid to late November.  Cubbing brings to mind tweed coats, velvet collars, tall brown boots and Barbour jackets.  It's one of my favorite times of the year although this year we have a terrible drought so everything is brown, hard, crisp under your feet, dusty, dry, dead.

Do a rain dance for us!  We desperately need one!

Clogmania

Clogs are back in a big way but in my world they never went out of style. We've been wearing Dansko clogs to horse show for 20 years or more. But it's nice to see them back as they are so practical especially for fall.  Here are some picks.  Which ones are your favorite?

These come in black and brown and I'm partial to the brown ones.  They are also greatly reduced. Wish the heel height was a little lower but these are pretty darn cute. See them here.

I wish these came in more colors as I'm not partial to the red or yellow but if you can wear these colors then these are really cute.  See them here.

These are knock offs to the uber expensive Tory Burch clogs and the heels are lower.  See these here.

Love the Tory Burch ones a lot!  See them here.

Love these clogs too!

Or if you plain vanilla clogs at a great price try these.

Clogs are back!

Chic Coveralls - They Aren't Just for the Farm

I have not jumped on this bandwagon yet - it's just too close to home - as I literally live in my Carthartts all winter long.  Now they are chic. Who knew? And you can spend as much as you want on these babies, no lie.  Even Gucci is in on the trend.  I like this basic one by Freepeople.

Corduroy anyone?

(Target)

I love Target's blue jean version too but it's not all cotton (am staying away now from synthetic fiber as another way to fight climate change - you should consider doing the same).

Talbots Does Equestrian, Again

Equestrian must be lucrative or Talbots wouldn't keep doing it.  Loving it this year too!  This vest is great!

Love this cotton shirt too. It is all cotton - remarkable!  See it here.

This dress is also cotton. See it here.

Love this cute corduroy skirt too.  See it here.

This cute tote bag is very horsey.  See it here.

This quilted jacket is very Barbor-esque.  See it here.

There are plenty more cute horsey items this fall at Talbots.  Love it!

Weekend Warrior

Beautiful Friday here in Virginia but terribly dry - no real rain here for a very long time with none in sight anytime soon!  But what's on tap for the weekend?

Great Horse Race
The Pennsylvania Derby will be televised on late Saturday afternoon and the race won't disappoint as the top three-year-old honors are totally up for grabs.  Maximum Security was pulled from the race earlier this week but watch for Improbable (who likely will be the favorite from Bob Baffert's barn), Mr. Money (who has been on a hot winning streak and could win) and for War of Will (the Preakness winner who could be a threat).  You can see the entries here.

These Small Bags Go With Everything
Loving these small bags that go with everything.  See them here in various colors.

My New Favorite Shampoo
I used Klorane shampoo years ago but recently tried this shampoo and love it.  Ordered the conditioner too.

Ken Burns' New Series on Country Music
You don't need to be a country music fan to love this new series by the famous storyteller Ken Burns.  It started last week on PBS and continues Sunday at 8 pm EDT. You won't be disappointed.

Support Your Local Needlepoint Store This Weekend
Saturday is "support your local needlepoint shop day" so it's a great time to make a visit and stuff your winter stash.  Love this canvas!  See it here.

Love this horse trailer ornament too.  See it here.

Everyone Loves a Bargain
Like this wool sweater at TJ Maxx from Tahari for $30.  See it here.  Plan your fall and winter wardrobe now by shopping at outlets to get some great deals.  TJ Maxx is my favorite!

Happy Friday!!!!

More Fall Fashions

Fall is finally in the air and I can't wait to put away those summer clothes and wear sweaters and coats.  So what am I loving for fall?  A lot unfortunately!  Like these jeans. These will make any figure look good.

I need to add a turtleneck sweater in this neutral color.  Prefer wool over cashmere but this is a staple for me.

I'm always a sucker for an animal print.  Love all of these.......

I also love this sweater from Vince and it comes in several colors. I could wear them all.

Another animal print.  Do you see a theme here?  Love this for fall....

The Road to the Kentucky Derby Started Last Weekend

Yes, it's true.  The first Kentucky Derby points were handed out on Saturday, fittingly enough, at Churchill Downs.  And there is definitely a "favorite" already but hoping not to jinx this talented two-year-old this early in the game.

Dennis' Moment did not disappoint the crowd when he went on to win a race in which he was the clear favorite. After demolishing his competition at Saratoga this summer by winning his last race by over 19 lengths, this bay colt, a son of Tiznow, came off to win effortlessly, setting a Stakes record along the way.

He made it look pretty darn easy and he'll be bubble-wrapped until the Breeder's Cup in early November where he will likely be vying for the top-two-year-old honors. He;s most definitely a Derby horse.

Fun Fall Horsey Clothing for the Riders and Non-Riders

I am loving some of the fun new fall and winter clothing that is starting to show up, stuff that you can wear even if you don't ride.  While in Dover Saddlery yesterday, I saw some of their new clothing and the selection, the variety, it's great.

This sweatshirt was not in the store and I'd love to see it in real life.  It also comes in gray. Love the details.  See it here.

As usual the Ariat clothing does not disappoint. I love the red and blues.  Their clothing is such good quality, lasts, fits well and it's reasonably priced. See this sweater here.  Wish it as all wool.

Also love this top from Kingsland. Would love to wear with jeans, or to ride in. See it here.

And I love this new base layer from Ariat. See it here.

And this half zip is SO CUTE in real life.  See it here.
