Kentucky-bred Social Inclusion is one to watch as the 2-1 favorite in the Wood Memorial this afternoon (5:30 pm EDT) and I can't wait to see how he fares with some real competition. He set the track record at Gulfstream Park in his last race and he hasn't been beat yet. But he did not race as a 2-year-old so he needs a great performance today to garner enough points to get in the Derby. His owner recently rejected an $8 million offer.

On the West Coast another Derby hopeful will trying to make his mark in the Santa Anita Derby. California Chrome is the 7-1 favorite for the Derby and is hoping for a win today in California. He's won his last three races by a combined 19 lengths.
Candy Boy is another one to watch. He's listed No. 1 in ESPN’s Derby power rankings, this big colt, ridden by the great Gary Stevens, will duel with California Chrome at Santa Anita today. Unlike California Chrome, he needs a strong performance this weekend to accumulate enough points for a guaranteed Kentucky Derby spot.
Can't wait to see how this unfolds today. Derby Day is one of my favorite times of the year. And they're off.............
Hi,
ReplyDeleteFor some reason your blog comes to my inbox the day after your posting date. Is there any way to get it on the "real" date?
Thanks-
