It's Keswick Horse Show time! Mid-May means Keswick, as in one of the few "old time" horse shows left in Virginia. It's held just outside of Charlottesville, Virginia in the middle of the Keswick Hunt Country very close to Keswick Hall. I'd add Upperville and Warrenton to the list of the few "old time" shows are left in our lovely state. Keswick is shabby chic at its best. It's upper crust, but it's rustic. It's competitive beyond belief and your horse must be "train proof" as the train tracks run right through the horse show grounds. I'm not kidding. Thankfully Sega and Alfie never minded the train. The stabling has seen better days and when it rains, it floods. But no one ever seems to mind. That's part of the charm of Keswick.
(The Upper Ring)
There are two rings, upper and lower, complete with a grandstand and tailgating ringside. There's a hunter classic on Friday night and a jumper class on Saturday night under the lights. Parties every evening of course. More to come! Stay tuned.
