Historic Home for Sale in Rural Virginia

I pass by this lovely home when I travel south and when I rode by it last week I was amazed to see a for sale sign out front.  It's located near the infamous Sweet Briar College and I wonder if it's owner is somehow associated with school which is in so much flux.  There's not much in Amherst outside of the college.  But the home is lovely to look at. See the listing here.

Featured in the New York Times column What You Get for $800,000'', this renovated historical Bed and Breakfast home is priced to at $699,000. It is one of the oldest homes in Amherst County. Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, there is no shortage of stunning views. The house is set on 5 and a half acres, half wooded, half cleared. The house, built in the 19th century, boasts 9 bedrooms and 7 baths and. It includes a pool, patio, fountain, and a garden with an arbor. Enjoy the lovely landscape, dotted with hundreds of blossoming daffodils in the spring. The property also includes a two-story, 3,500 square foot addition with a master suite with a roman bath.
