2021 has not started well at the farm. On January 5th, Alfie came in very lame. He's a pretty sound guy and he's never had an abcess so I was a bit worried and rightfully so. His athletic antics in the field finally got the best of him and he's now on stall rest, and will be officially retired barring some small miracle. While he's not a youngster, this is a serious injury. He's being surprisingly good on stall rest, for now. Life does have a way of throwing us curve balls when we least expect it. Hug your horses!

ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear about Alfie! I hope he continues to progress and get better. Hugs to you!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear Alfie is laid up. It's always hard to retire the good ones. It's always out in the field, isn't it?? Danzig raced sound and then rammed a splinter into his eye playing in the paddock.
