It wasn't difficult to kiss 2020 good-by although the first quarter and even half of 2021 may be grim based on what we are seeing in the US right now. But hoping that there is light at the end of the tunnel and at some point in 2021 we can return to a modified normal life again.
Baking and Cooking/Because we don't dine out, cooking at home has become the new normal for us and that's not a bad thing. We visited the Red Truck Bakery in Warrenton, VA this past week and what a treat. We could not go in, but we ordered a sandwich and brought home the Country Ham Quiche. I purchased the cookbook in 2020 and had planned to start baking. Treat yourself please to the cookbook, make a visit to Warrenton or to Marshall, VA and you will be converted. You can also mail order once they recover from the holiday onslaught. The world has discovered this gem.
One of my Christmas presents is on back order and I can't wait for it to arrive. Let the baking begin!
We also visited Ian Boden's Staunton Grocery which sits right beside his famous Shack Restaurant. You can buy the products he uses to make his incredible food and we even met the famous chef. A visit to The Shack is one of the first places I am headed post-pandemic. But visit his tiny grocery in Staunton and stock up on great things to cook with. His sandwiches are almost as good as his dinners.
Another cookbook to add to my growing library:
Hoping I have inspired a little cooking and baking or even a few socially-distanced road trips!
