The Breeders' Cup

I was looking forward to this coming weekend for so long - it's Breeders' Cup Weekend. It's on my bucket list to see the best two days of horse racing anywhere in the world, all in one spot and it's at Keeneland. They rarely ever use Keeneland for this event due to its size.  Hotel - check. Tickets - check. Time off from work - check.  Covid - uncheck.  While the races will go on, spectators will not get to see the races in person.

These horses will see their last race this weekend - Improbable, Maximum Security, Monomoy Girl, and a few others. I saw Monomoy Girl win her first G1 at Keeneland.  I wanted to see her win her last race, at Keeneland.  I expect her to win again on Saturday.

This year has been upended in so many ways that's there's not enough room here to list.  But at least we can still enjoy watching the best horse racing in the world starting tomorrow on television from the safe comfort of our own homes.  Tune in - if you like watching the Triple Crown, this is better.

On Friday afternoon watch the "up and coming stars" races - the top two-year-olds. Get a peak at who we might see next year in the Derby and the Oaks.  On Saturday, there is race after race of the best of the best flown in from around the globe.  The Breeders' Cup Classic will be the last race and the one to watch. I think a Baffert horse will win - Authentic, Improbable or Maximum Security.

The silver lining, if there is one, is that the races will be back at Keeneland in two years and we have tickets!  The bucket list will have to wait.  Enjoy this great weekend of horse racing from one of the best venues in the world. Sit in front of a cozy fire, stitch, and watch the Super Bowl of horse racing!
