New Stay at Home Ideas

There are many ways that you can adapt to our current "new normal" way of life - staying at home - while this pandemic passes.

1) Adopt a New Workout Routine
Have you thought about adopting a new workout routine from home?  Can't get to the gym?  Classpass may become the new gym.  Check out their website here for the classes and workouts they offer from home. Signing up is free and many of their offerings are free of charge.

2) Peloton is Not Just for Bikers
While better known for its spin classes, they also offer thousands of strength, yoga, stretching, boot camps, and cardio-based workouts on its app as well as meditation exercises and coaching for outdoor running that don't require the purchase of Peloton equipment.  They have extended it's 30-day free trial to 90-days for those that sign-up by April 30th.  You'll have access to their library of classes.  Why not get world-class tips and training from home for free?  Check it out here

3) Cooking Classes
How about taking a cooking class from home?  Why not learn to be a great cook?  There is no excuse now.  The Great Courses Company is offering cooking classes from some of the masters.  You can sign up for a 30-day free trial here.

4) Join a Virtual Book Club
Need a little motivation to get you through some of those classic books you've always wanted to read?  Prefer a little comraderie with your books?  Then join an on-line Book Club.  There are many to pick from so here's a list to get you started. You might enjoy Andrew Luck's Book Club.  Who knew? Sports and literature?  I am impressed.  Here's what he's reading right now.

5) Online Stitch Classes for Needlepoint
Want to enrich your stitching habits?  The Enriched Stitch is offering online classes via Zoom to improve your needlepoint skills.  All you need is a computer and access to Zoom (which is very easy to use).  You can find the calendar here with the instructions.  April has several offerings right now.  Go for it!

6) Play Games
I ordered a Backgammon Board last week and it should arrive soon. Years ago  I played backgammon and will teach hubby how to play once it arrives.  We also used to play Rook which is a ton of fun for a group.  Try playing games after dinner with your crew.  Rook is totally worth ordering a set of cards from Amazon or a local retailer.  You can order a set of cards here or here.

Please take this pandemic seriously and stay at home. A friend ventured out to a local garden shop yesterday and found it packed with people.  We are in the middle of a pandemic!  People have the virus and have no symptoms. It is spreading.  In my small county, we have 10 reported cases which means we have an 95 percent chance of being at epidemic stages. We have three ICU beds in my local hospital.  This is serious stuff. No one is immune.  Please stay at home for the next few weeks.  There is plenty to do from home!
