Friday Musings

Another week of work has almost flown by and it's Friday, again!  There's much to be thankful for right now.  Stay in.  Stay healthy.  Love your family and friends even if from afar......

Remember Zenyatta?  I posted a video of her Breeder's Cup victory not long ago. If you love a great mare, a great story or just a great athlete then watch this segment from 60 Minutes about ten years ago.  It will bring a smile to your face.  She is 16 years old now and having babies but her legend lives on.  And in case you are wondering, did she win the Breeder's Cup for a second time and close her career undefeated? No. She did not.  She was beat by the tiniest of margins by a horse named Blame.  And I did not make that up.

Looking for a new recipe?  I know I am trying to be creative in the kitchen but after a long day's work and barn chores it can be difficult. Try this pasta dish from Bon Appetite:

Fusilli alla Vodka with Basil and Parmesan

Want to know what a day-in-the-life is like for two former Derby winners, Nyquist and Street Sense? See this article here about these famous stallions who now live at Darley in Lexington, KY.  Nice retirement if you can get it.

Need a beauty booster?  Here are two face masks you may want to try. A face mask is a great way to boost the skin, make you feel, cleaner and refreshed.  And since it's tough to get to the spa these days, try these for home.  The first one, by Malin & Goetz is a gel mask.  I love their products.

The second one I use once a week.  It's awesome! It will make your face tingle the first few times you use it.  I also use the oil after I have a facial.  Love this product (and all of their stuff).  You can order this one here.

The news is not good on the retail front and it's not a shock to read this headline this morning but J Crew is filing for bankruptcy.  This one certainly won't be the last, but those companies with huge unsustainable debt loads are toast.  Read the story here.

Derby hats are 50 percent off right now at the Keeneland Shop.  This one is perfect for a needlepoint hat band!  See it here.

Love these new napkins and table cloths from Frances Valentine. Comes in three colors - red, yellow and blue.  Bring out the pinata.  See them here.

Also love this hat, perfect for most anything, staying home, horse shows, races, even gardening. And it's greatly reduced.  See it here.

Love these hydrangea sandals from Jack Rogers, on sale but in limited sizes. So spring!  See them here.

Happy Friday!
